Full release notes

This release is full of a number of improvements and fixes that have been made over the past few weeks. Many bugs were found and corrected, some new features were introduced, and importantly we're now starting to use a part of the new map data pipeline.

Changes

  • Map
    • Parks data on the map is now being sourced from a new pipeline that allows for more detailed data to be presented. This is the first step in a larger effort to update the map data across the board to provide a better trip building experience.
    • Protected Areas (Premium) have returned
    • Please note: The detailed data will be available in more areas over time as I work on improving the data extraction process, but you should start to see improvements in the areas where this data is available.
  • Routing Profile Designer
    • Updated the My Saved Profiles interface to make better use of the space
    • Added a Clone Profile button to allow you to easily clone an existing profile to use as a starting point for a new profile- Trip builder interface
    • You can now clone multiple sections at once by selecting them and using the clone option in the context menu
    • Improved the merge sections interface to make it more clear and intuitive to use
    • When hovering over a section or waypoint on the map, the interface will now scroll that element into view in the side bar if it's not already visible
    • You can now press and hold A to dim a section you are hovering over. It will remain dimmed until you release the key. This is useful for muting a section temporarily while you work on other parts of your trip.
  • UI
    • Added a new hillshader slider to the map style settings to allow you to adjust the intensity of the hillshading on the map.
    • Added a toggle for boundaries to the map style settings to allow you to show or hide boundaries on the map
    • Updated the styling of your personal DMD Hub Locations on the map to make them more distinguishable from Public DMD Hub Locations
    • Added a new confirmation dialog that will become more prevalent across the site
    • Updated the Map Feature tooltip to be more cohesive and informative
    • Moved Pinned Trip visiblity controls into the Pinned Trip Manager
    • Added a way to update your user avatar in the User Settings menu
  • GPX Imports
    • The import process will now honor the date and time of incoming data, and reflect that accordingly
    • This applies to the trip as a whole, to sections and to waypoints
    • The trip will assume the earliest value found in the GPX file, and the sections and waypoints will assume their own values if they are present
    • If no date values are present, the current date and time will be used
  • General Items
    • Reduced unnecessary data points from Pinned trips to make for a smaller local storage memory footprint, meaning you can have more pinned trips without worrying about running out of space

Fixes

  • General Items
    • Corrected translations of decimal degrees formats
    • UI fixes to properly layer components and avoid overlap in certain situations
    • Improved responsive sizing on the watermark
    • The map should now properly stay in place when opening and closing either side bar
    • Attempting to select multiple trips in the trip list was not working properly and has been corrected
    • Waypoint EXACT filtering logic has been updated to return the expected results
    • Section description data should now be present when cloning a trip
    • Routing profiles with "automatically imported" were being created in error and will no longer do so
    • Fixed routing issues when attempting to use "avoid tolls" and "avoid motorways" at the same time
    • Column sorting in the trip list should now act according to the column being clicked
    • Searching for a coordinate in the search field should now properly fly to the correct location
