Minor roads, now mapped across the entire globe

This release comes with a huge upgrade to minor road data, making it now available globally for Premium users! The gaps that were present previously are now gone as the site is relying on data generated by the back end pipeline based on global OSM data. In addition to that, some other functionality was updated to be more cohesive and informative, and a number of bugs were fixed along the way.

Changes

• Minor roads are now visible globally Premium feature
  • The minor road data that was previously only available in certain areas is now present globally
  • Enable the Show roads and tracks at lower zoom levels option under Map Style Settings
• A completely redesigned map legend
  • The map legend has had a complete redesign, focusing on putting control of data at the fore
  • You can now disable and enable road types individually
  • You can also star road types to give them more visibility (non-starred are dimmed when starred types are present)
  • You can also use a slider to adjust the size of starred road types
  • Further improvements to this tool will be made as the platform evolves
• An improved map feature info card
  • The map feature info card has been updated to include even more data about the feature you're hovered over
  • For roads and tracks, it will now show surface type, max speed, track type, and more, including the style of the line itself.
  • For parks, an additional indicator for protected status is presented.
  • This will be improved further to leverage even more data that is present in the map as the platform evolves
• Routing profile use enhancements
  • You can now enable Use last selected profile for new sections under Map Settings
  • This will cause the next section you create to use the same profile as the last section
• General Items
  • Trip Builder will now delay slightly before scrolling a section or waypoint into view on their respective lists
  • Changelog layout has been updated a bit
  • The trip list now lists pinned and unpinned trips separately, with a clear separator.

Fixes

  • Corrected the selecting all waypoints functionality
  • NASA FIRMS data was not properly presenting on the map and has been restored
  • Trip merge functionality would fail when certain data points were missing - logic has been added to work around these cases
  • Restored rendering of missing track and waypoint data on the trip share view
