This release is about knowing exactly what's under your wheels. Surface and road detail now runs through the entire app - richer per-section breakdowns, a simpler Trip Builder panel, an elevation and surface profile while you edit, and a rebuilt trip share page that carries the same detail with directional arrows, elevation and slope coloring, and start and finish markers. Building got sharper too, with a real-time routing preview that shows the road you're about to commit to, fuel range planning for the long empty stretches, and a Map Legend reorganized around Roads, POI, Nature, Labels and Other.
Changes
- Surface and road detail, everywhere
- Per-section surface detail expanded - paved share, roads and trails, regions, notable features and elevation range for every section
- The Trip Builder surface panel is simplified to Surface, with the paved and unpaved split shown up front
- See generalized surface data (paved vs unpaved) at a glance from the surface and road breakdown toggle
- The unpaved overlay was resized and recolored for reliable contrast against any track color
- A new elevation and surface profile appears while you edit a section, synced to the map as you move along the line
- Trip Builder surface data now respects the visible, dimmed or hidden state of its parent section
- A richer trip share page
- Shared trips now carry surface data and the unpaved overlay
- Directional arrows can be switched on straight from the map
- Route coloring by elevation or slope, with an on-map color scale and quick preset switching
- Start and finish markers, with a separate pair for each leg when a trip's sections don't connect
- Real-time routing preview
- The line to your next point now follows real roads as you move, so the point you place commits exactly what you were shown
- Improved routing resolution for results that match the preview more reliably
- Prefer click-then-route? Switch the preview off in Map Settings
- Fuel range planning
- Set your tank range and reserve and see them drawn as fixed real-world rings, anchored on your last fuel stop
- The inner ring marks where you should start looking for fuel, and any stretch beyond your range is flagged on the route
- Elevation and slope color
- Gradient choices now come in two flavors - switching between elevation and slope shows the right colors for each
- Improved Accessible preset, readable with any form of color vision
- New Terrain preset with atlas-style height tints
- Note: a custom gradient applies to both elevation and slope
- Steepest ascent and descent are now measured over a fixed ground distance, so slope figures reflect the terrain rather than how densely a track was recorded, and slope calculations are more accurate overall
- Map Legend
- The legend is reorganized into Roads, POI, Nature, Labels and Other
- A dedicated Points of Interest section for filtering and emphasizing the places on your map
- Star anything in the legend to give it preferential treatment on the map
- Road Status - construction, temporarily closed, and disused or abandoned roads
- Labels > Places now includes continents, counties and districts, and localities
- Account
- Change your account email from your account settings, with a verification step before the switch takes effect
- Quality of life
- Improved insert track point interactions, with a readout at the snap point
- Improved avoidance zone building and interaction
- Improved waypoint editor interactions
- Folder View gains Routes, Tracks and Waypoints columns, plus preview pane improvements
- Air quality data formatting and presentation improvements
- A general legibility refinement pass across the app
Fixes
- General Items
- Tablet users were unable to reliably drag to sort sections and waypoints
- Power Infrastructure is now Power Lines. Going forward, power facilities and infrastructure areas will always be rendered on the map, while power lines themselves are hidden when unchecked.
- Restored mountain saddles and peaks to the map
- Map attribution is collapsed by default again
- Fixed the "Connected to" interface overlap
- Improved DMD Hub location icon sizing
