New build tools, freeform routes, and a fresh new look

This is one of the biggest releases yet. The entire build experience has been rebuilt around a new contextual toolbar that follows you everywhere — whether you're browsing the map, viewing a trip, or building one — and it's joined by the all-new Trip Planner, which builds a routed trip from the places you choose. It also brings a powerful new Select tool, an Inspect tool, and a new Draw tool for sketching routes by hand, plus a refreshed look, smarter section editing, and deeper Via Point planning — along with a new Low Power Mode, smarter map data, and waypoint cleanup tools.

  • The interface has been given a modern refresh — cleaner panels, clearer hierarchy, and a more cohesive look across the Trip Builder
  • Editing a section now opens a dedicated panel with your most-used actions up front (export, notes, reverse, color, speed, visibility) and the rest tucked into a tidy More menu
  • The keyboard-shortcut reference has a fresh look and now covers more of what you can do
  • The trip preview now shows distance, time, sections, and waypoints as at-a-glance tiles
• A brand-new toolbar and a more powerful way to build
  • The old edit-only tools have been replaced by a new toolbar docked to the left edge that adapts to what you're doing
  • Select — marquee-select sections, waypoints, and track points, then act on them together. Shift-click to add, Alt-click to subtract, and use Keep only to narrow a selection down
  • Inspect — hover anything on the map to dig into its underlying data
  • Measure — quickly measure distance across the map
  • Modernized section operations: cut or split a section anywhere along its line, remove a section with a single click, and trim away everything before or after a point
• The all-new Trip Planner
  • Pick the places you want to visit and let Rumo build a routed trip that connects them — no more stitching sections together by hand
  • The planner works out a sensible order for you automatically, or keep your own with My order
  • Set your start and end points, close the loop, and dial in a max drive time per day
  • Append a planned route straight into the trip you're already editing
  • Weighted routing (Premium) — mark which stops are must-hit versus nice-to-have. High-priority places anchor the route while the rest fold in only if they're roughly on the way, with a single tolerance slider setting how much of a detour is acceptable. Stops left off the line stay on as optional markers you can detour to.
• A new Draw tool
  • A new Draw tool lets you sketch a route by hand, stroke by stroke, instead of routing point to point
  • As you draw, the tool automatically follows the road and track data on the map beneath your stroke
  • Need to leave the network? Switch on cross-country mode to break away and draw freely across open ground
  • Drawn lines pick up real road type and surface data — including paved-percentage and a surface breakdown — just like routed sections
  • You can draw over an existing line section to reshape it, and everything round-trips cleanly through GPX
• Richer map data and legend
  • More road and surface data than ever — every trip now carries a detailed road-type and surface breakdown (paved percentage, surface and road types, even ferries, tolls, bridges, and tunnels)
  • Imported GPX tracks are now map-matched, so they earn the same rich road and surface detail as routed and drawn sections
  • Maritime parks (Premium) — a new toggle for marine and coastal protected areas
  • Legend group toggles — flip an entire legend group on or off at once
  • Refined park and protected-area fills, paths now appear earlier when zoomed out (Premium), and cleaner stroke/fill transitions
• Smarter section editing
  • Section edits now happen in a staged session with clear Save and Cancel — changes only commit when you're ready, and Cancel cleanly discards them
  • Improved section action menus and a cleaner collapsed view
• Deeper Via Point planning
  • Via points now carry real dwell time — declare how long you'll stay and it's folded into your total trip time
  • Name your stops, tag them by type (overnight, fuel, food, water, rest), and add notes
  • Via point details now surface directly in the UI and on the map based on your preference
  • Via points export in both Garmin-standard and Rumo's extended format so they survive a round-trip
• Waypoint cleanup tools
  • Delete Waypoints — select and clear waypoints in bulk from a clear confirmation modal
  • Remove Duplicate Waypoints — tidy up stacked or repeated waypoints in a single action
• Folder View
  • Pin all / unpin all directly from a folder
  • A new folder action menu for quicker management
  • Sort and filter your trip sections, with your folder sort order remembered across visits
  • A dedicated home for unsorted and unpinned trips, plus an improved overall layout
  • The folder preview pane now shows richer trip metadata, including road and surface breakdowns
• Cloud Storage
  • Google Drive is now live! Connect it and import or export GPX using the familiar native Google picker
  • A smoother experience across every connected cloud provider
  • If a connection goes stale, reconnect inline without losing your place, with graceful recovery when a token has expired
• Low Power Mode
  • A new Low Power Mode toggle in Map Settings trims map detail — hillshading, contours, and resolution — for smoother performance on slower devices

  • An improved tablet experience across the Trip Builder and Folder View
  • Significant performance and memory improvements across the app — sections, waypoints, and map layers all render leaner
  • A redesigned scale control and tighter alignment between the road legend and map features

Fixes

• General Items
  • Via point dwell times are now stored more consistently
  • The Map Legend's None option no longer leaves road data showing, and toggle alignment was improved
  • Closing a trip opened from the Trip Planner now returns you to the map
  • Trip Planner zoom-to-fit was improved to better frame the content being planned
  • Pinned trips now regenerate a proper snapshot on save, and hidden sections and waypoints are ignored
  • Sections that were showing 0 distance are fixed
  • The Unsorted Trips folder now behaves correctly
  • Hovering road types now works on the satellite map
  • Restored missing road style lines in the map feature card
  • Cloud file names no longer rely on underscores
