More data for your adventures!
Full release notes
With this release comes some pretty amazing new features for you to enjoy! See the details below and let me know what you think!
Changes
- Surface data is now available!
- Any Section you route will now include details about the surfaces you'll encounter along the way
- Additionally, if you're using V2 of the Trip Builder, a new setting has been made available to leverage this data to stylize the map, making it much clearer what you can expect on your Trip.
- You can easily migrate pre-built routed Sections to include this data by using the "Regenerate Sections" button in the Trip Builder interface
- Note that this requires a regeneration of the Section, and can come with some changes due to updates to the routing profiles that have been applied over time. Pay attention to any notices presented in the interface to make any necessary corrections.
- Data visualization can be be toggled to show the overall break down between surface types (such as gravel, paved, etc) and road types (such as primary, service, etc)
- Trip Builder V2
- Added a Copy Coordinates option on the Context Menu for any location and position
- Improved the Map Feature label (which shows up when you're hovering over something) to include more data points and to indicate restricted/private areas.
- A new toggle has been added to the Map Settings panel to show Place and Waypoint name labels on the map
- General Items
- Automatic version checking has been added
- The site will periodically check to see if there are any updates, and if so, you'll see an Update Available indicator on the bottom of the page which you can use to reload the page.
- Always remember to save your work before you reload, just in case!
- A changelog interface has been added to make it easier for you to keep up with what has changed. (you're looking at it now!)
- Improved the routing indicator to provide better user feedback based on progress being made.
- Now when you log in from a new device, the site will bring you to a random place of interest, instead of starting you off in San Francisco, California.
- You can now lock Sections to avoid any changes being made to them. This is useful when you want to ensure that a Section remains unchanged while you work on other parts of your Trip.
- New distance and time subtotals are now shown when selecting multiple Sections.
- Added a car wash category to the Places and Waypoints interface
- Automatic version checking has been added
Fixes
- General Items
- Fixes were made to the Section Editor Tools to correctly align Routing and Line mode functionality to acceptable use cases
- (V2) Fixed an issue where adding Track Points via the Context Menu would not render the track correctly
- (V2) Fixed an issue where dragging a Track Point would cause any previous Section to set it's last track point's position to the new position. This should only occur when moving the first Track Point of a given Section that is connected to a previous Section.
Next up
The next major goal is to improve performance of the V2 Trip Builder, as it will ultimately be the way forward. I appreciate the patience you have given me while waiting for this to happen!
