Account Tiers, data point clustering, standardized colors for object types, and more!

Full release notes

Today marks one big step toward the future of the project. We're introducing the account tiers that will be a part of the product when it goes live. Take this opportunity to test out the different tiers, consider their allowances, and provide any feedback you have on the design and any limitations these changes introduce. During the beta testing phase all tiers are free to use so please try them all out and provide feedback!

In addition to that major change, I've also tackled some feature requests and bug reports. See the notes below for more.

Changes

  • Account Tiers
    • Introducing Account Tiers! Every account will start at the Free tier. Load the Pricing tab to review what is offered and to choose your preferred tier.
  • Updated Tier-based UI
    • With the introduction of Account Tiers, changes have been made to the UI to align with what is available to each tier.
  • Data point clustering
    • Data point clustering is here! Now, when your map has many Places, Waypoints or Pinned Waypoints nearby each other, they will be clustered. This will greatly improve performance, especially for those of you with a lot of data. Additionally, you can customize the cluster radius to better fit your needs.
  • Standardized colors for object types
    • Trip Waypoints, Places and Pinned Waypoints now have new indicator "footprints" at their base to indicate what type of object they are. Trip Waypoints are blue, Places are purple, and Pinned Waypoints are orange. This should help you discern between the different objects you have on your map. In addition to that, you can customize the colors used for these indicators in Map Settings.
  • Add map features as a Waypoint
    • When you right-click on map features during the processing of building a Trip, you can now use the Add to Trip Waypoints option to add it to your Trip as a Waypoint.
  • Improved service outage handling
    • Service outages, like the loss of a map tile provider, should now be handled more gracefully by the system. A short timeout will be used to determine health, after which you will be able to continue using the app, albeit in a somewhat degraded state. This system will be improved over time to provide a seamless experience. Thanks for your assistance in this one, Cloudflare!
  • General Items
    • Added a count to the Sections tab in the Trip Builder.

Fixes

  • General Items
    • Sorting trips by Name in your Trip List should now persist through reloads as one would expect.
    • An empty tag was being added to imported Places in some scenarios. This has been corrected.
    • When cancelling the modification of a previously modified Place, the data was being incorrectly reverted to a previous state. This has been corrected.
    • Clicking on a Trip on the Pinned Trips list will now focus the map on that Trip as expected.
